Tech-Air® MX
airbag system

Ten years of development, built for motocross and supercross. Six sensors detect a crash and inflate the airbag before you hit the ground.

What it does

Six sensors measure how you move hundreds of times per second. If the system detects a crash, the airbag is inflated before you hit the ground — shoulders, chest and back, in roughly forty thousandths of a second.

You wear the vest under or over your body protector. Four riding modes tune the sensitivity to what you are doing: MX, MX Race, Enduro or Rally. After an activation you reload the system yourself with a new cartridge — no service point, no waiting. The battery lasts up to thirty hours of riding, and an hour of fast charging is good for about eight hours.

Unsure about the size? Come to Lommel and try the vest on. An airbag that fits too loosely does not work as it should — this is the one item where the shop really matters.

How it works

Tech-Air® MX app + riding modes

Choose your ride from four pre-programmed settings in the Tech-Air MX app: MX, MX/Race, Enduro and Rally.

Protection when inflated

The airbag covers chest, back and shoulders and so protects your entire upper body — with an average inflation time of just 40 milliseconds.

Filmed in slow motion — in reality this takes about 40 thousandths of a second.

Service and repair

GEAR2WIN is an official Tech-Air dealer and certified Alpinestars service point. You buy your system from us, and you can bring it back to our shop in Lommel.

Inspection and maintenance

Bring your system in for an inspection. We check it together with Alpinestars.

After a crash

Has the airbag deployed or been damaged? We arrange the repair through Alpinestars.

New cartridge

After a deployment you need a new cartridge. Order it below or pick it up in the shop.

Mandatory in MXGP from 2028

The FIM makes a functioning airbag system mandatory in MXGP, MX2, WMX and the Motocross of Nations from 2028; in 2027 it is already highly recommended. The system must be FIM-homologated or compliant with FIM Category 3 (motocross).
