The right BMX race fork can make the difference
BMX race forks are also an extremely important part on a bmx race bike. There are three main material choices here, those being: carbon fibre / aluminium / steel.
Carbon fibre forks are without doubt the number one choice for almost all high ability youth riders for the simple fact that carbon forks are far lighter than the other options at this point. Whilst a carbon fibre bmx fork is not cheap, this is normally a part of the bike a rider will keep for a few seasons of racing. Younger riders are also not usually heavy enough to cause a carbon fork to easily damage.
With older and heavy weight riders, a higher percentage of riders choose to race with a steel or aluminium fork. A steel fork costs around half the price, so whilst it is not necessarily stronger than a carbon fork, it is far cheaper to replace when damaged.
With carbon bmx forks, two very popular brands are Answer and BOX components. As far as price there is no really big differences. With regards to strength and weight the differences are also very small, so we see in most cases a customer will buy the fork they like the look and styling of, when they choose between these two brands.
Whatever your level, Gear2win has the right BMX fork for you
For world championship level Elite BMX racers, we have noticed that the BOX Components fork is a popular choice, as this model is available in a version that fits a 20mm front axle, which some faster and heavier riders sometimes choose to use. For the smaller riders, or younger riders, the 20mm axle is less popular with our customers, who tend to use the more regular choice of 10mm axle.
Whichever your choice of BMX fork, we are happy to help or advise further.
